A fairly easy walk from Wenvoe to the deserted medieval village of Wrinstone. Actual farm buildings and farmhouse containing original features of a medieval manor house. Relics and existing walls in the farmhouse. Marvellous views all around.

 

Hospitality - Optional post walk refreshments at The Wenvoe Arms or The Wallstone Castle pub.

 

Distance/terrain: 3 miles.  6 stiles.

Timing: Start 10:30am  Return approx 12:15pm

Meet at: Wenvoe village near church.

Restrictions: No dogs.

Travel Directions: 

Exit junction 33 of M4 onto A4232 (to Barry).  Exit first slip road, Culverhouse Cross.  At roundabout take 3rd exit A4050 to Barry.  At 3rd roundabout take 3rd exit (right) into Wenvoe.  Follow road to church on right.  On –streets parking.

From Barry (Dinas Powis) A4231from ‘McDonalds roundabout’.  At second roundabout take 2nd exit A4050.  At 2nd roundabout take first exit into village, church ahead on right.

Those who have never visited this part of Wales, situated on the coast between the Gower and Cardiff, will enjoy walking through fertile, rolling lowland countryside adjoining the spectacular Heritage Coast with towering cliffs and remote beaches.  The Vale as its known locally is a maze of footpaths, country lanes, little villages, fine dining and country inns.
