We will walk through fields to meet the coastal path then walk along the cliff top and marvel at the views across the Bristol Channel until we reach a disused limestone quarry which has been transformed into lakes and a nature reserve for local wildlife. We will pass by the most southerly point on mainland Wales which is marked by an impressive 14 metre high obelisk made of Welsh slate.

 

Hospitality – There is a cafe and a pub in Rhoose village.

 

Distance/terrain: 3 - 4 miles on uneven ground, a couple of flights of steps and one stile.

Timing: Start 10:30am, return approx 12.30 pm

Restrictions:  No dogs. Not suitable for very young children or pushchairs.

Those who have never visited this part of Wales, situated on the coast between the Gower and Cardiff, will enjoy walking through fertile, rolling lowland countryside adjoining the spectacular Heritage Coast with towering cliffs and remote beaches.  The Vale as its known locally is a maze of footpaths, country lanes, little villages, fine dining and country inns.
